Paint Shop Pro
Paint Shop Pro is a low-budget alternative to the more Expensive
PhotoShop, yet it accomplishes many of the same effects.
The beta release of PSP 5 includes many of the
features of PhotoShop including complete layer
support, Picture Tube brushes, CMYK separations
and pressure-sensitive tablet support. The program is scheduled
for release in April 1998.
Paint Shop Pro comes in several flavors, dependant on your operating
system. Windows 3.1x and NT 3.51 users must use PSP 3.12,
PSP 4.14 operates on Windows 95 and NT 4.0 only and PSP 5 is
for Windows 95 and NT 4.0 only.
Creating special effects has never been easier than it is
now with the new Version 5 of PSP. With little more than
a click of a button you can create your own paint brush tip,
drag it across your canvas and have an instant 'motion' effect.
The Picture Tubes, similar to Fractal Painter 5 image nozzles
places instant images on your canvas. The new Layers function
allow you to add special effects to just one layer, thus
preserving the other layers in their original state.
Numerous sites around the web provide tutorials, tips and tricks
for using the various versions of Paint Shop Pro. Tutorials range
from beginner to advanced covering everything from the basics to
creating a 'look-a-like' oil painting known as a
Digitoil.
