Review: CaptureEze Pro

It doesn't seem so long ago that a top-of-the-line screen capture program
would grab the screen and only give users the option of saving it to a hard
drive.
|
Today that is no longer the case. A product called CaptureEze Pro stands
far above most other screen capture programs because of its many options,
and one option in particular.

The biggest option allows users to capture not only screens, but web pages
of any size, whether all of it is showing on the screen or not. When the
capture "hot key" is pressed, the program allows the user to scroll below
the screen to grab as much or all of the page as needed, such as the example
on the right.
This makes CaptureEze Pro so valuable and useful that, if it did nothing
else, it might well be worth its $39.95 price tag. But there is a lot more
depth to the program.

It all begins with the CaptureEze Pro interface, which is more graphic and
far better than most screen capture programs. The user is immediately given
a choice of available options, which together enable the capture of a page
in several combinations. These options include the usual capture and
preview, capture and print, and capture and save.
Once that choice is made, the user is then taken to a screen which allows
them to designate the type of area to be captured.
The user then selects the activate button and goes to the graphic they wish
to capture. Pressing the "Print Screen" button does the actual capture.
Once grabbed, CaptureEze Pro has the ability to let users edit the captured
item for color, cropping, rotating, mirroring, and printing as large as 4
pages x 4 pages. Further, those functions are available for as many as six
captures per page.
Other features for use on captures include borders, filters, masks, shadows,
frames, time/date stamping and positioning on a page for printing. Also
provided is the ability to replace colors, which can sometimes come in handy
to save the quality of a graphic.

From within the program, the user can print up to 36 thumbnails per page,
along with selected, detailed information. The program also supports DOS
capture, and high-resolution cameras and scanners.
Another advantage of CaptureEze Pro is its ability to handle a wide variety
of graphic formats, making it equally adept as a graphics converter program.
It can also zoom graphics as low as 6 percent and as high as 1600 percent.
The program is not difficult to operate. An experienced graphics person can
expect a 10-15 minute learning period, maybe more for getting the
fine-tuning aspects of the program placed into the memory bank. Novice users
may require more time to work on the fine-tuning features, but screen
captures alone are a snap.
What is it called again? CaptureEze Pro.
